Do It Yourself: Sharing is Caring

~ On Fire ~ ©Thesunsetgirl.Com
“Lusy, you can’t fake it!” said a dear friend of mine while enjoying some hot chocolate on a cloudy Saturday afternoon. It was such a blow, I could not shake it off my head right away. What she meant at that time was the way I’ve been doing things on-line. That there should be specific reasons behind all these hustle and bustle. Believe it or not, my first reason is NOT money. I have been blogging on a self-hosted WordPress for almost eight months yet not a single ads can be found on my page! I am not saying that I do not need money. I simply believe in doing what I love and that there is time for everything.

I am also happen to be a big fan of “move your own way”.

So why am I doing this then? I’ve tried to explain it right from the get go on this first blog of mine. My first reason is “Learning by Sharing”. However, it doesn’t stop right there. Most especially not when there are so many ways to learn by sharing on-line, whether we like them or not.

Bottom line is: blogging is not the same as before.

Before I did something about that, I didn’t want to put the cart before the horse so I started by doing some research and planning. After getting all the information I need and learning from them, I decided to use three social medias as a set of tools to support the purpose of this blog.

I learned more about people and things by doing that.

I started by opening the first ‘tool’ on August 14th 2010 which is a Facebook page with its main purpose shared on this post. Then I opened the second tool on October 25th 2010 which is a public Twitter account with its first tweet explaining why. The the last tool I utilized is a channel for videos on YouTube.

The challenges escalate and I was caught by surprise.

There were some dramas but I won’t say much about them because it is up to us who we want to be connected with. What I forgot to calculate is the TIME. It took me so much time to make sure everything is running well, up to the point that I hardly had enough time to post a blog.

I am glad it doesn’t interfere with things in the real life.

However, it was not easy to stop and smell the roses!!! I found myself running from one site to another which was fun but at the same time turned out to be exhausting. So one day, I sat with my friend and told her everything. She then reminded me that I must know not only why I started them but also why I must keep going.

That made me sit down and ponder more than once.

In the end, I see the people who have been parts of everything here and there. I have been learning by sharing with my own families, best friends, on-line friends as well as new friends on more than one sites. I am grateful for those opportunities, of course, but why do I keep on doing them?

The reason is simple. Because I care and as the last blog in 2010:

Thank you!

Yes, it is nice. This is the first month when I actually posted blogs once a week since December 18th, 2010. Before that date, it was once a month (November 18th and October 18th) thanks to building all these 3 social medias to support this site. I’m mighty glad everything is done now. Phew!!!

From three times a week to once a month and now once a week, yes? Trying to get back on track, I see… good luck!

Ups, sorry… I forgot to reply to this one. Yes, it is going to be at least once a week from now on. I’m trying to go back to the old routines – three times a week. Hopefully I can make it. Thanks for being here!

Thank you, girls … for your never ending supports! Also on the Facebook page. I’ve noticed a pattern there and will discuss with you girls as soon as possible. Again, thank you for being on the same boat with me – care to share and learn by doing it! (^.^)

I’ll let her know asap. Thanks so much for that! She’d appreciate it. It’s a relief to have real supports both in the real life and on-line. I’m more than grateful for them.

No, it is not easy to organize all these. I spent the 1st four months building this website with its own system then the second four months creating its set of tools as mentioned on this blog.

The next four months will be something different. For that, I will have to do several things both on-line and in the real life. Then more things will follow after that.

I will let you know the details asap, okay? Good luck in all you do as well, cousin! The year 2011 is going to rock! Big hugs!!!

Yes, that’s the main point auntie – to be on fire in 2011 which hopefully will be sustainable. A lot of things to do this year. Thanks so much for all the supports!!! Big hugs!!!!

Facebook is most visit website in 2010 – not Google anymore. So open a Facebook page is a very nice choice! Not easy to handle … Good luck with your website and tools!!!

Indeed! I wasn’t surprised when I read that news though because more and more people are using Facebook. No need to guess which countries have the most users and whether Indonesia is one of them! So true about maintaining a Facebook page is difficult. I’ve been doing it for almost 5 months and I know a lot of people are still skeptic about it. It has a potential for learning by sharing in a way that is not available on blogs. Hopefully by the time everybody see what I see now, it won’t be too late for them to capture the momentum. The place is moving so fast with new improvements almost every month!!! The most difficult part to me is to keep doing what I love (learn by sharing) in a place like Facebook where most people are there either to play games or stalk their current / ex-lovers! LOL Hugs!!!

Lusy, I am so happy to see that you have been able to post more than once a week. I cannot promise when but I will try to write that post you asked about. I want you to be able to post more often so if there is something I can contribute to your greater success, I will do it. Hopefully sooner than later.

May your 2011 be greater in every aspect than all previous years. God Bless You and Happy New Year!

Hi, Tom. This is the second post in a week and I’m glad I was able to do so. So many things are going on both on-line and in the real life. I look forward to reading that blog. I saw a blog from WordPress with the same purpose too – to inspire people to write blogs more often.

Thank you for being an inspiration and for all the helps. Also for visiting my corner of the blog universe and leaving your comments. Much appreciated! Hope you had a great time celebrating the holidays. Happy New Year and all the best to you too!!!

Yes, I have a pro account on Flickr and the reason is because I’m using it as my on-line picture storage. I have uploaded tons of picture into private folders there. They will be ready for me to share when it’s time. So I don’t even have to get on-line with my own computer to share pictures because they are all stored on my Flickr. Things are moving so fast though and Yahoo, as the owner of Flickr, are not moving as fast as the others. So I might have to find a new place to do so in the future. We shall see. :-)

First of all, you too have a nice 2011. Hope it’ll be a better year for us, ritht?? And about connecting with people online, like we all know, it has two sides. Like you said, if we’re not careful, it’ll use up all our time and energy, especially if you have multiple sites (facebook, utube, etc.) So, if it brings you more good than bad, why not, right?? It seems to me that you’re really like to write and sharing them with others. Just be careful what you share because it goes public.
Ok Lus, enjoy writing and keep on sharing. Happy 2011….!!

Thank you for the reminder, Jane. I am being extra careful with the small updates I share on-line because anything can happen, right? I have no major problem with blog because I don’t share personal (let alone private) stuff here. It is also never about what I’m doing right now. It doesn’t keep the lurkers away though. 😉 Again, thank you so much!!!

Any thoughts?
